Sunday Worship Schedule

The traditional Sunday worship service from June through September of each year is held at 8:30 and 11:00 AM. Sunday school hour is at 9:30 AM and a nursery is provided for each.

An alternative worship and praise service is held at 6:05 PM each Sunday afternoon of the year. This service is called "sixOfive" and is explained below.

sixOfive

What does “sixOfive” mean? It is the name of a new worship service at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church that began on September 13, 2009. What time does the service begin? 6:05 p.m. Why “sixOfive”? We think it’s catchy; we hope the odd time sticks in people’s mind; and perhaps more importantly, it’s a reference to Deuteronomy 6:5, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.”
This new service is an intentional effort by the session to faithfully enact the Great Commission. While we want to continue to celebrate our current worship services, we believe that there are people in our community that we can reach with the gospel of Jesus Christ, so that they may take to heart the words of Deuteronomy 6:5.
This service will be more contemporary and informal while maintaining our Presbyterian/Reformed beliefs and traditions. First, we want to encourage everyone to be in prayer for this service, that God would move through us in order to touch more people in our community. Second, if you know of people who may be interested in being a part of this service, please invite them to join us.
